Service History

General Information

The USS Ermiana NCC-74538 is a Galaxy Class Starship built and operated by Starfleet. It is the first ship to bear the name 'Ermiana'. Built and launched from the Utopia Planetia Shipyards in 2371, the USS Ermiana is currently under command of Captain Mikoto Misaka.

Construction & Launch

The USS Ermiana was orded by Starfleet after the loss of the USS Odyssey in 2370. The Odyssey was destroyed by the Jem'Hadar whilst attempting to rescue Commander Benjamin Sisko in the Gamma Quadrant. This aggressive and violent attack warranted Starfleet to speed up construction of starships to counter a potential invasion from The Dominion.

The Ermiana was built in orbit at drydock fourteen at Utopia Planetia Fleet Yards in orbit around Mars in the Sol System. The Ermiana was built to the same specifications of the recently lost USS Enteprise NCC 1701 D. However the design of the Ermiana was modified in order to be easily upgraded with new technology that was currently being tested on other starship designs. Such an example is that the Ermiana was built in order to be refitted with bio-neural gel-packs if proven successful on the USS Intrepid NCC 74600 and USS Voyager NCC 74656.

USS Ermiana at Utopia Planetia, 2370

The USS Ermiana was launched from Drydock fourteen in late 2370 to undergo space trials. At the time she had not yet been christened. She was commanded by Captain Molly Bedford for her space trials. Captain Bedford reported that the ship handled well and seemed more responsive than the older Galaxy Class designs. The Ermiana returned to Utopia Planetia after two weeks of space trials to undergo her final fitting out. This included the installation of her interiors including living spaces, holodecks, lounges and laboratories.


The USS Ermiana was officially commissioned in early 2371 and after spending a further three weeks being fitted out at Utopia Planetia was ready for Launch. She launched on Stardate 48291.79 after being handed to her new Commanding Officer, Captain Mikoto Misaka.

'New Beginnings' Mission Banner

The crew of the USS Ermiana start to arrive and prepare the Galaxy Class starship for launch from the Utopia Planetia Fleet Yards. Captain Mikoto Misaka arrives, chooses her senior officers and ensures that everything is ready so that the ship launches on schedule. She meets her new Executive Officer, Lieutenant Commander Mackenzie "Mac" Taylor hoping for a lasting partnership.

Cleaning Up

'Cleaning Up' Mission Banner

After being launched from the Utopia Planetia Fleet Yards under command of Captain Misaka; the USS Ermiana is dispatched to the Veridian System. The Ermiana is tasked with overseeing the salvage efforts of its predecessor, the USS Enterprise NCC 1701 D. Captain Misaka is ordered to remove any classified or dangerous technology from the curently crashed saucer section of the Enterprise.

Upon arrival into the Verdian system the Ermiana becomes a 'Command and Control' vessel for civilian contractors whom have been hired to dismantle the Enterprise's Saucer Section. However the Ermiana herself would be tasked with removal of classified systems such as computers, weapons and technology that Starfleet did not want 'falling into the wrong hands'.

USS Ermiana fires on the Duras's Bird of Prey

Complications arose when a Klingon vessel was detected in the system and attacked the Ermiana. The Klingon Commander, Colonel Dontoc blamed the USS Ermiana for the destruction of the Duras Sisters Lursa and B'etor. Captain Misaka managed to negotiate with the Colonel and advised him to stay clear of their salvage operations. However the Klingon vessel continued to remain in orbit.

The USS Ermiana was put in danger when the Klingon vessel under command of Colonel Dontoc stole data regarding the Trilithium Weapon from the databanks of the USS Enterprise D, and launched a Trilithium Probe at the Veridian Star. The Ermiana laid in pursuit of the probe but was unable to lock weapons. Luckily the probe broke up when it approached the star and did not cause a Trilithium reaction. The Ermiana reported the incident to Starfleet Command and the Klingon High Council. A Klingon Defence Force vessel arrived shortly later and took Colonel Dontoc and his crew into custody. The Ermiana finished salvaging the componants from the wreck of the USS Enterprise D and set course for Starbase 43 to offload the salvage.

The Search

'The Search' Mission Banner

The USS Ermiana is dispatched to Deep Space Nine, its mission is a sensitive issue. The Ship be venturing into the Badlands to search for the USS Bismarck which has been hijacked by the Maquis. With reports of the Bismarck attacking Cardassian ships, and the threat of war looming, Starfleet want the ship either retrieved or destroyed.

The USS Bismarck

The Ermiana is faced with complications when a Cardassian Intelligence Officer comes aboard at Deep Space Nine, Zodrac Kosh. He assists in the Search for the Bismarck. The Ermiana heads to the Badlands to search for the Bismarck and to capture the Maquis terrorists. However the Maquis have set an ambush for the Ermiana. An inside agent has notified them of a high ranking Cardassian order on board. Their leader known as 'John' plans on using Zodrac Kosh to unlock Cardassian Secrets.

However, Captain Banri Edasaki of the USS Bismarck and Zodrac Kosh come to a deal with John. Zondrac agrees to give the Maquis classified Cardassian codes in order to steal a Cardassian cruiser in replacement for the Bismarck. It is revealed that Zodrac Kosh is a double agent and is working not just for the Cardassians, but also for Starfleet Intelligence.

Meanwhile the USS Ermiana learns of A Maquis supply depot in the Badlands. Captain Misaka orders the attack on the Supply Depot. She plans to take control fo the supply depot and gain access to the Maquis commiunications frequency. They then plan to send out a fake distress call to lure the Bismarck into a trap, turning the tides and then recapturing the Bismarck. However this also attracts the attention of a Cardassian Warship who also picks up the Distress Call. After accepting Zodracs offer the Bismarck intercepts the Cardassian ship and manages to beam the entire crew to the Bismarck. The Maquis then hand back command of the Bismarck to Captain Edasaki and they rendeavous with the Ermiana.

Captain Misaka is weary and suspicious of what actually happened. However after retrieving the Bismarck's crew from a nearby Class M planet, the Ermiana and Bismarck return to Federation space. The Maquis now have control of a Cardassian Warship, which is no longer Starfleets immediate problem. The Ermiana and Bismarck offload the Cardassian Crew at Deep Space Nine before continuing onto their next assignment.

Atlantic Trouble

'Atlantic Trouble' Mission Banner

The senior staff of the Ermiana are invited for a day's R&R on the holodeck with Captain Misaka. A new program promises them a good time and some cultural education on Earth's Atlantic Ocean. The crew will be boarding either as officers or passengers aboard the famous Steamship RMS Olympic in 1911 and setting sail from Portsmouth England to New York in the United States. However, problems arise when a glitch causes the Olympic to replaced by her younger ill-fated sister, the RMS Titanic on the night of April 14th 1912, moments before she meets her demise from am iceberg. Can the Ermiana crew survive one if the biggest maritime disasters in Human history?

The senior crew of the USS Ermiana enjoy a transatlantic crossing aboard the RMS Olympic, an old twentieth century ocean liner. Captain Misaka takes on the role of the ships Captain, whilst her first officer Eila takes on the role of First Officer. Others join them in a historical crossing on one of the most luxiourious setting on the biggest ship in the world of nineteen eleven.


However a surge in the holodeck power systems causes the program to 'glitch' and the Olympic is switched with her ill fated sister, the RMS Titanic. Without any time to react the RMS Titanic swipes an Iceberg in the mid-Atlantic causing damage to the ship. However with six water tight compartments now floating, it becomes inevitable that the ocean liner they are now on will sink. Captain Misaka tries to end the program calling for the Holodeck Arch, however the holodeck is not responding, and it seems that the safety protocols are also offline. This causes a problem as they are now trapped on a sinking ship, and in one of the biggest maritime disasters of Earths history.

RMS Titanic Strikes the Iceberg

The RMS Titanic starts to sink. Captain Misaka orders the real crew to get towards the stern of the ship and into a lifeboat is possible. She, Eila and Lieutenant Sanya Lityvak use the Titanic's Marconi Wireless radio to attempt to contact the Ermiana outside of the holodeck. Luckily the bridge crew of the Ermiana pick up their message and move to assist in rescuing them from the holodeck. However the Titanic begins to sink, seemingly much quicker than in real life. The famous Grand Staircase is flooded and the ornate dome is destroyed, witnessed by the Starfleet crew.

Eventually with some quick thinking from Lieutenant Commander Lurath, the crew are rescued as he blows open the holodeck doors with explosives. He then orders Ensign Wendy Marvell to transport the real crew from the holodeck. After being saved, Captain Misaka is grateful for the rescue. She orders all holodecks off limits until the problem can be identified and repaired. She also orders all holodecks on the Ermiana to undergo extensive testing and diagnostics to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Preparations

The USS Ermiana is ordered to Starbase 375. The ship is tasked with transporting 5000 Photon Torpedoes, 48 Phaser arrays and turrets along with 48 toroedo launchers to Deep Space Nine. Starfleet plan to arm Deep Space Nine in case of a Dominion Attack and the Ermiana is one of the only ships with enough cargo space to safely transport the sheer amount of weapons to the station.

Starbase 375

The USS Ermiana arrives at Starbase 375 where she is to load on the armaments and transport them to Deep Space Nine. Admiral William Ross gives the orders directly to Captain Misaka in her ready room. Other starships that call the base their home are also present, many of them have transported the armaments from all over The Federation to the starbase.
