Mission: The Search
Location: Corridor outside of Sickbay
Timeline: 05:00

It was 05:00. In a few hours the Ermiana would be leaving Deep Space Nine to head into the Badlands. At this time every day since taking command, Captain Misaka would be out for her morning run. Today was no different as she ran at a steady pace around the outer circuit of the ship's saucer section. She paused for a brief moment close to ten forward, leaning forward her hands on her knees.

Although only dressed in a grey sports bra and white shorts, she didn't feel cold. She stretched a little in the intersection before preparing to continue. She would usually take a slight detour and run across the ship's saucer from port to starboard, passing the ship's sickbay before circling around to the turbolift.

Felicie was heading to work to get a head start on everything before they left the port. However, she was taking the scenic route towards Sickbay. As she sipped her spiced tea, she turned the corner and side stepped the captain who was apparently out for a run. "Creature of habit I see."

"Oh, good morning doctor" Mikoto greeted. "I wasn't expecting anyone awake around here this early. And yes, a creature of habit."

Offering a smile, the doctor replied, "yeah, trying to get a head start on everything to make sure that everything goes smoothly for the transition." Felicie was of course offering the insight into why she was up so early out and about.

Mikoto lightly jogged on the spot. "Yeah, there's a lot going to be happening today. It's not everyday we end up going into the badlands," she explained.

"That and taking over Sickbay. I'm still getting into all our nooks and crannies to find everything that we had, what we got at DS9 and everything that needs to be done to ensure that we are ready for the Badlands. It's a lot, all at one time," Felicie stated.

"The medical department is rather vast on these Galaxy Class ships. I hope you're doing ok with managing it all?" Mikoto asked. "I know its a lot to manage, but with a ship this size nothing seems small."

Felicie made a motion with her hand. "Pst, it's fine. Delegation at its finest. It's not that bad, just a little bit more work overseeing two major sickbays than just one. There's a lot more managerial work that is associated with the shifts and such. So far, I'm managing. I enjoy a work life balance; you know this. I'll let you know if we need to promote some folks to spread the load."

Mikoto nodded as she jogged on the spot. "How do you feel about hunting down these Maquis? We could be facing a situation where lots of people get hurt. Are you ready for that?"

"Ready as we will ever be," Felicie replied. "We've got officers on call and ready. We have both the sickbays stocked and the med stations across the ship ready to go and be activated as needed. More than normal on-duty officers are running right now. I'm trying to keep the shifts light considering we don't know how long it's going to take to find them, and what condition they will be in. As time runs on though, we might need to scale back the on-duty to on-call effort to ensure that we don't have any burnout," Felicie added.

"Good idea." Mikoto replied back. She stopped jogging on the spot for a second and began to do some light stretches. "I have to admit, I am a little worried about venturing into the Badlands. We've lost so many ships in there over the years."

Felicie nodded. "I can understand the apprehension in our approach. It's one of those things that whole we can try to best prepare ourselves for everything, we truly don't know what has happened over the years. Taking a generous dose of skepticism going into the Badlands, we should be better off. Maybe we might find some of the answers for the many unanswered questions over the years."

"That's what I'm hoping," Mikoto replied. "Well, I'll leave you be doctor. I still have a couple of laps to run."

"Enjoy your work out, and I will catch you later. I'm off to work. You know me, creature of habit," Felicie joked.

With that said, Mikoto resumed her jog leaving the doctor to her duties.
